Will we ever get our Wizkid back??? – Wizkid’s fans ask
@djice |
The chart-topping single, “One Dance” by Drake, which featured Wizkid, has gotten the Nigerian singer trending worldwide, added to his low-key deal with Sony/RCA. However, Wizkid’s Nigerian fans don’t seem to be relating to the singer’s pattern of songs anymore, following the tremendous change he has witnessed by reason of his exposure to music dealings on the international scene. Now, this is a development his fans are not contented with.
His Nigerian fans have reasons to believe that his creative control is being tampered with in an effort to align him with a particular style that is appealing to the whites and foreign listeners, which has caused him to neglect his African roots. This could be what Davido noticed before deciding to shun international fame and restart his career from the root. Davido was able to achieve his aim with his first single after breaking up with international music.
The singer gave Nigerians the African rhythm and vibe he was earlier known for. Right now, the single is making more waves than all the tracks on his American EP; “Son of Mercy.” Fans think this is something Wizkid should also do. But it appears like Baba Nla is very okay with running things the “Sony Music Way.” And this has gotten his fans asking; “Will we ever get back the Wizkid that gave us Pakumuro, Don't Dull, Oluwa Loni, Love My Baby, and No Lele?
